Vietnam

Vietnam Stretching over 900 miles up the eastern coast of the Indochinese Peninsula, sharing borders with Laos, Cambodia and China.

Major cities:
Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Danang, Hai Phong, Halong, Can Tho, Hue, Nha Trang, Dalat.

Along with fine tropical weather, spectacular natural scenery and historic sites, Vietnam's greatest resource is its friendly, welcoming people. Long closed to the outside world, Vietnam retains a charming innocence that more touristy regions lack.

HALONG Bay is one of the most magnificent scenic spots in all of Vietnam and was designated by UNESCO as a World Natural Heritage in 1994. It is a picturesque bay with some 1969 islets rising from the clear emerald waters of the Gulf of Tonkin.

SAPA, nestling in a magically beautiful valley at an elevation of 1,500 meters, SAPA plateau is a pride of LAO CAI specifically and of Vietnam generally as being the country's most incredibly picturesque hill station and is well off the beaten tourist track.

With a marvellous coastline of 3,260km featured with endless white sandy beaches, emerald bays and colourful coral reefs, Vietnam deserves to be acknowledged as an Asian paradise for those who want to wallow in the leisure of sea, sun, sand and beach in high-standard resorts. The most popular beaches include PHU QUOC Island, PHANTHIET, NHATRANG and the 30km-long expanse of beaches named NON NUOC beach.

As an agricultural nation, Vietnam bears its most traditional and typical beauty in the two inevitable lowland cultivated areas, the Red River Delta in the North and the Mekong Delta in the South, where visitors can be overwhelmed by brilliant green rice paddies tended by women in colonial hats. The Mekong Delta itself has always been the center of Southern agriculture, typical countryside culture and lifestyle as well as a complex ecosystem. The propitious topography and favourable weather, in addition to diligent spirit of the people have nurtured thousands of tropical diversified fruit orchards, farms, wildlife, forests, etc. Especially, the intertwined river and canal network created by the Mekong River has not only been an important traffic channel but also a rendezvous for busy and exotic floating markets.

The country is granted a tropical monsoon climate with diversified characteristics varied significantly from North to South, from frosty winters to the year-round warmth. At sea level, the mean annual temperature is about 27°C in the south, falling to about 21°C in the far north. In South Vietnam, the rainy season lasts from May to November, but the showers are usually limited to brief bursts in the late afternoons. Along Vietnam's central coast, the driest season runs from June to October. Visitors to North Vietnam are often surprised by the region's distinct seasons; summers are hot and humid while winters are invigoratingly cool. As a result, each region has its best time for visiting: Hanoi from September to May with a pleasant winter, Hue from March to August with a sunny summer and Ho Chi Minh City with warm weather the whole year round.
